The Happenings

Hey everybody, we're still around and now you should be able to see some of what we have been up to since we moved and Connie did her wonderful paint job.
The first week of August we travelled to Fruitland, ID to stay a few days with Bart and Jen and have a family reunion. But first we stopped in Boise. We tried to watch the quarterfinals of the Drum Corps International competition that was supposed to be on the IMAX screen in Boise. But they were having trouble with the satellite uplink, so we watched G-Force instead. This first picture was taken outside the movie theater afterwards.

Later that week while still in Fruitland Kenny turned 15. So we had a party with at least one side of the family present. I think he had a good time. If you are wondering about the brown and white cake, there are some family members that are allergic to chocolate.

Anna, our budding photographer took lots of pictures that trip. Many were while she tried to figure out action shots on her digital camera. And she played with the light settings. This is one of the action shots that worked. Sydnee Enoch and Eli on the tramp.

Argh, walk the plank matey. Randall was getting bored at Lowe's while Connie looked for stuff. He knew I could take pictures on my phone so he threw down this board, started walking on it and said, "look I'm walking the plank." Funny Guy!!

Kenny just before leaving to staff Scout Camp at Island Park.

Oops this one is out of order. This is a miniature golf course Randall created for a date. They did this at the church parking lot.

Josh and Anna getting ready for their blind date. Where they would play the aforementioned mini golf.
Then they played Skittles. If you have never played this you are missing out. It is a blast. Kind of like spoons, except you get to eat them afterward. We played with M&M's as well.

Just beware if you eat that many skittles all at once you may end up like Josh and Randall in this picture. From left to right, Joshlyn, Riley (anna's date), Randall, Logan (Joshlynn's date) and in front Anna Wright (Randall's date).

A couple of weeks later we had a going back to school party at our house. This is Kenny, Jaden Rebekah and Danny playing Wii.

This is our attempt at a dance at the party.

Anna, Suzanna, and Danny setting up for the dance at our party. It really wasn't much of a dance. Although you should have seen Anna and Brett cut a rug. Maybe this is what led to the Homecoming invite? HMMM

I was supposed to take my scouts fishing after everyone played their football games a few weeks ago. Everyone was playing at Marsh Valley High School, Caden played first then the other two had games after that. So, Caden and I went down to Devil Creek and fished, while waiting for the others to get done with their games. I caught a nice 20" rainbow. We went back to the High School to get the other boys and found out we didn't have a second adult to go with us, so we had to cancel the scouts trip. But, Caden and I went further north and East, to this nice spot northeast of Lava Hot Springs on the Portneuf River. We caught 3 pan size Rainbow and Caden caught a couple of Crayfish. In fact once he figured out there were crayfish he gave up fishing and harassed crayfish the rest of the time. Randall ate the Crayfish when we got home, he said it was real good. We didn't have any clothes for Caden to change into so he fished in his football pants and cleats.

Caden with the Corn man before a game. I bought three of these corn hats for the East Idaho State Fair. The Band Boosters run the Corn on the Cob Booth at the fair, and I wear the corn hat in the parade that day and dance around behind the band trying to encourage people to buy corn at the fair. This year I had two helpers. It must have worked we had a great fair and a great opening day.

Kenny with his harem at the corn booth. It was really funny. Kenny was wearing one of the hats while we were working the Corn Booth. These girls alll came up and in addition to corn wanted to get their picture taken with him wearing the corn hat. I've heard they all (or Most of them) go to Blackfoot High.

I just had to throw this in. The first Counsellor in our Bishopric at BYC. He is soooo coooooollll!!!!

Kenny helping with Randall's Eagle Project. A couple days before his 18th birthday. The project was to paint a couple of the offices at the high school. The colors they picked are school colors but ugly. But, it turned out looking alot better than the way it looked before.

Randall's Priest Quorum adviser and Someone else prepping the walls for paint. They had to remove this centuries old wallpaper border. The border came off OK but the glue was a nightmare.

Randall and Cade painting. Cade is a teacher in our ward. He was such a great help he showed up every night and morning, and stayed late everytime.

Jaden and Cecilio painting.

I was in Olympia, Washington the other day for a hearing. The leaves were turning colors and the capital building is framed very nicely through the trees. I wish I had a better camera than my phone, because this picture doesn't do it justice. It was a gorgeous sight.

Homecoming. Randall and his date Tia. Ain't they cute. Randall is a lot like his grandpa and thinks that he should just call or ask in person for a dance. In this instance his initial idea was to ask via facebook. Which he did. Allegedly, Tia said she would go, but that he needed to be a lot more creative in his asking. Well, the gauntlet was thrown, so Randall arranged a song, wrote lyrics and got some friends who he has been working on a Jazz combo with to join him in playing this song. Originally, they were going to film it and have the choir teacher show it during a class that Tia is in. But they couldn't get the camera to work. So, they went into the class, with the group playing behind him, Randall sang the lyrics asking her to the dance. The choir director at least was impressed. He thought that took alot of guts. (well he didn't say guts, but this is a family blog).

Anna and her date Brett. Brett is a really good friend of Randall's and the son of a member of our Stake Presidency. Yes, they were all in the same group for this date, in fact poor Anna has not been on a date without her big brother yet. And, with the exception of a blind date in Fruitland, during our family reunion, Anna has always gone out with one of his friends. At least he picks good friends.
Ain't they cute as well? Anna made that dress, well, she remade that dress. It was a highly inappropriate dress to begin with, but it was cheap at DI, then she and Connie with some help from Anna's Laurel Advisor (who is a seamstress) they redesigned and remade the dress. They finished just a few minutes before Brett came to pick her up.

Earlier that day there was a marching band competition at ISU. This is a picture of the 1A and 2A groups receiving their trophy's. Our Band took second in their division. This picture is actually of Randall receiving the trophy from the Band director at ISU, who happens to be Randall's private Trombone teacher. Dr. Brooks.

You may have heard about this competition, later that day American Fork High School, won the open division (as they usually do), then on their way home there was a tragic bus accident with one of their directors dying in an attempt to save the students on the bus. In the band community this is a family member. We all compete, but, they are a pretty close knit group.

Randalls Birthday cake. Those candles are sparklers. The Green cake is a football (marching band) field. the things you see on there are people made out of pipecleaners. Randall is the one at the bottom of the picture, he is the Drum Major up on a stand, the rest are members of the band and the other two drum majors. Jacie did this all herself. She came up with the idea, she made and frosted the cakes, made the people and put it all together.

She even missed her last cross-country meet to finish it before the party.

Meanwhile Anna and Connie made this Pinata. The theme was saying good-bye to Randall's childhood. So they did a bunch of kids games. The pinata was full of popcorn balls. Two days to create 5 minutes to destroy.

Pin the tail on the donkey. I think Anna cheated.

The great swami says, "wow, now I can legally buy a machete, and ammo, and guns, and cars, and fireworks" Really he said that.

Playing the unwrap the ball that is full of dollar store trinkets game.

The unwrap the trinket game cont'd.
Pictured: Suzanna, Brett, Caden, Rebekah, Anna, Jacie.

If you look close you will notice that the green cake is a number 1 and the chocolate cake is an 8. Together it makes 18. Clever Jacie.

While the girls were finishing up final preparations for the surprise party, Connie was taking Randall out to take his Senior pictures. The seniors have to provide their own pictures for the yearbook. Carefull don't fall off the log.

Randall in his Venturing/Cedar Badge Uniform.

I'm not sure why he's playing to the water. I don't understand the Trombone and the river.

Another Senior Moment!!

Well wasn't that a fun trip down memory lane. Hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did.
